Publicity and Set Stills of the 1755th MGM's Release
Part 3 : The X Series (behind the scenes)
Here are some pictures taken during the film shooting which happened from May to June 1959. The first part brings together the official photos used as promotional material, with "1755-X ..." written on the photo prints as a reference.
However, some of the Behind-the-scenes photos don't have any reference, and we show them below with our “BTS” code and number for identification. If you know some of the missing references or other photos from this series, please let us know...
When The Time Machine was released, many photos of Yvette Mimieux were distributed to newspapers and magazines to both launch the career of the young actress and exploit her charms to promote the film. Most of these photos were not directly related to the film and Yvette is depicted in them with clothes or hairstyles (see the unreferenced photo #18) that have nothing to do with her character in the film. But among all these images there is a series, numbered 4001 to 4006, in which the actress's hairstyle and make-up, as well as the ambient light and the vegetation surrounding her, are all clues that lead us to think that they were made during the filming of The Time Machine.
We don't know who took these headshots and they are not dated or located, but we are sure they show Weena between two takes, in a white bathrobe, posing for a photographer (was it Shugrue?) on the M.G.M. Lot 3 in late spring 1959. Of the six photos in the series we found five, here they are.
